Welcome

Markus Loew Peter Habermeyer

Dear colleagues,

endoprosthetic replacement of the shoulder joint has become a common procedure in the field of orthopaedic and trauma surgery during the last decade.

Although case numbers are still small compared to hip and knee replacement, there does exist a wide spectrum of implants for different indications.

It is our impression that there are only few congresses and workshops which are focussed exclusively on this topic. Therefore, the aim of our meeting is to cover the whole field of shoulder arthroplasty.
We will have basic talks by shoulder experts, which will give an overview on indications, techniques, results and complications. This part will be completed by instructional courses and workshops by different companies and live surgeries at our hospitals (video conference).

Due to the large variety of different pathologies (osteoarthritis, posttraumatic deformity, cuff tear arthropathy, AVN) it is crucial to be “up-to-date” in terms of implants and operative techniques.

After the scientific and practical work a festive evening will be held in the Old Town of our romantic city of Heidelberg.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Heidelberg in November 2006.

Kind regards,

Peter Habermeyer
